Corridor Announces Hiring of New Vice President of Business Development, Tom Nelson

SPENCER – The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) has announced the hiring of Tom Nelson as its new Vice President of Business Development for the regional economic development organization serving Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties. He will be replacing the Corridor’s former Vice President and Entrepreneur-in-Residence Brian Dalziel who resigned earlier this year after eleven years of service for the Corridor.

Nelson currently works for Minnesota-based Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA). He served CEDA’s contact with the Jackson Economic Development Office by acting as the Economic Development Coordinator. In his position with CEDA, Nelson successfully administered numerous loan funds, created new programs for business development, oversaw the construction of multiple projects, negotiated incentive packages and led a robust entrepreneur support program.

“I am incredibly excited to bring my passion and diverse background to the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation,” said Nelson. “Since I was young, this region has been special to me; I look forward to being a part of an organization whose mission is to foster its growth. The Corridor is a strong organization with an excellent opportunity to take advantage of new ideas and energy.”

A graduate of Bethel University, Nelson studied Organizational Communications, Political Science and Leadership Studies. He has been a Soldier in the Minnesota Army National Guard since 2013, joining as an enlisted soldier. Since then, he has been commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer. Nelson is a member of the American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion and is the former director of the Minnesota American Legion Boy’s State Program.

“Mr. Nelson will be a great addition to the Corridor team, bringing a strong skillset related to entrepreneurship and business services while also having knowledge of the region,” Corridor President & CEO Shannon Landauer said. “We look forward to expanding the offerings at the Corridor with the expertise that he brings to the team!”

Nelson will assume his responsibilities at the Corridor on October 18th.
